Of Self captures the most major turning point in my life to date, and possibly ever. I began the writing for the record when I had joined Evan Konrad's live band as a full time drummer in March 2019. I was in Vancouver 4-5 days a week rehearsing 6 hours a day and would come home for a few days at a time on the weekends to begin working on the album. Being around Evan, someone who I have know for over a decade and seeing the growth of his music to the point where he got signed to a major label was an inspiring energy to be around. It instilled in me a, "anyone can do it" sort of energy. You just have to do it, of course. Of Self is the death of my old self and my commitment to following the path of my own artistry. In May 2019 my father passed away unexpectedly. His passing pushed me and the album to a new level of "make it or break it" than before. It added fuel to the fire of carving out my own direction in life, because really, what do you have to lose?
